This site is subject to a detailed adaptive reuse strategy for four existing terraces and an adjoining building, in the historic streetscape of Bayswater Road, to the east of the famous Mansion Terraces. The proposal creates separate apartments within the existing heritage-listed terraces with retail space at the ground floor.
The built form on the corner with Ward Avenue will be demolished and replaced with a five-storey building, again with retail at the ground floor, which then continues to a series of new dwellings along Mansion Lane.
Designed by Squillace Architects, the proposal represents a high calibre design solution, having worked collaboratively with the City of Sydney to achieve an outcome that breaches the development standards in a manner that results in a sound public interest outcome for the locality.
